Jeff Bulcock claimed the final Open of the year with to take home the Yonex Trophy that played with a good number of visitors taking part at Wedmore Golf Club recently.

Bulcock and Kevin Harris had the same score of 39 points but it was Bullock who came out on top over Harris, who still won Division One.

Nick Parker beat Rich Vowles for second place after both scored 38. Paul Russell took the honours in Division Two, again on countback this time from Rob Major. Ian Williams was third with 36.

Lee Saxon was clear winner in Division Three, his 35 putting him four ahead of Charlie Rich with Eddie Charlton third. Alex Fry took the best visitor prize.

Good scores in the Ladies Division One saw Lesley Moore win on 38, two better than Shirley Gooding, Countback was needed in Division Two to put Janet Robson in first place ahead of Carol Horsley. Lesley Wills took the best visitor prize.

On Senior Captain’s Day there was plenty of competition for prizes as well with the best score of the day coming in Division One from David Crew, whose score of 42 was two better than runner-up Kevin Vaux with Martin Olive another shot further behind.

The best score in Division Two was 41 but there were two players on this score with Kevin Ogden edging out Charles Woodard on countback. Philip Horn was third with 38 points. Chris Donald was the clear winner in Division Three, his score of 39 was two better than Philip Springfield with Ray Dodkin another shot back in third.

The Ladies were playing for the Olive Bowl and there was really only one contender for this with Wendy Lucas scoring 40 points, four shots better than any other player and winning Division Two ahead of Nicola Stevenson with Linda Roberts taking third.

Liz Hill claimed first in Division One but only on countback from Ali Mantell after both scored 36. Eunice Bond was third on 35. 

Players in Division Three struggled in soft conditions. Janet Cornish won with 29 points ahead of Jill Cornish and Janet Robson.

No trophies in the monthly stableford on Saturday but there was good divisional wins from Tim Harris, Andrew Page-Dove, Quinton Thorne and Angela Tanner.
