Cheddar manager Mike Dangerfield said his side have go to Longwell Green Sports and give their “best impression and the best version” of themselves.

The Cheesemen have endured a tough start to their Toolstation Western League Division One season so far and take on the Green looking for their first win in 11 games in all competitions.

Cheddar last won on October 4 when they beat Bishops Lydeard 2-1 in the Somerset County Cup.

And Dangerfield said his team need to travel to South Gloucestershire and give it their all, take it to their rivals and give themselves a “great chance” of getting some points.

He said: "We just got to go there and take it to them and give our best impression and the best version of ourselves to give ourselves a great chance to get some points from it.”

Saturday’s match will be held at the Longwell Green Community Stadium on the 3G pitch at Shellards Road.

Dangerfield said his side usually have their training sessions on a 3G surface and that there should be no excuses if things don’t go to plan.

"We train on a 3G, so I'm hoping that it can't be used as an excuse or a reason when something doesn't necessarily go so well,” he added.

“Theirs is quite fresh it's quite a nice pitch to play on.

“We'll just go there and put forward our best squad, put forward our best performance and see what we can get out of it."

Captain Kieran Webster said Cheddar can take confidence from their last performance at Portishead Town, despite being beaten 1-0 at Bristol Road last Saturday.

Ethan Feltham’s 31st goal of the season, from 20 games, was the difference between the two sides as Posset made it 19 games unbeaten.

But Webster said all the players came off thinking they had given it their all and they need to do the same when they take on Longwell Green Sports.

“I think after the game, what everyone thought was everyone worked their socks off and I think we just got to do that again,” he said.

"We don't let it slip now. Just that mentality, that mindset of like thinking about it this week, how hard we worked together, it just needs to then continue going into next Saturday."
