Lauren Filer has been awarded a development contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board after breaking into the senior set-up in 2023.

These development contracts are awarded to those players the England Women management team feel will play a pivotal role for the team in the future and enable the ECB to support them further.

The contacts will run for one year until October 31, 2024.

Filer made history by becoming Weston-super-Mare CC female cricketer to play for England after she made both her Test and ODI debuts this year and is currently in India to play in a three-match T20 series.

The right-arm medium bowler was also named Emerging Cricketer of the Year, an award that recognises a rising star of the women’s game, recently.

“It’s obviously a massive honour, I’m super proud to see where I have come from within a year,” Filer told Weston Mercury Sport.

“This contract is obviously a really, really, big thing and I hope I can keep going on the up and and keep performing in an England shirt and keep progressing throughout my career.”
