Weston AFC manager Scott Bartlett said their National League South game with Truro City was one his side could have won.

The Seagulls held a 1-0 lead at half-time, after James Dodd's opener, before goals from Will Dean, Harvey Greenslade and Ryan Law after the break set the White Tigers on their way to a third win from their last four games.

Jacob Jagger-Cane scored a consolation but Bartlett's men fell to their first defeat in eight games, ending their seven-game winning run, after a 3-2 loss at The Optima Stadium.

"It's a game we could have won," Bartlett said.

"Obviously we were in the driving seat. I thought it was a pretty good performance really all round, but from being in a really good position to being 3-1 down and then almost salvaging something from the game is a range of of of emotions there, but we're in a pretty good place.

"I think the lads played quite well today. Their goals were avoidable from our point of view, we just got a little bit sloppy. We pride ourselves on our shape and our organization when the ball goes out or those turnovers in possession, for 10 minutes we just come away from that.

"Fair play to them getting back in the game and then scoring two more and after that it was one-way traffic and no one would have begrudged us to a point, or even a a late winner. But it wasn't to be today and the lads have been been fantastic.

"We're in a good place on and off the pitch and although we're disappointed we didn't get anything out of the game today. We're in a pretty good place ahead of Tuesday (against Chippenham Town.)

Bartlett confirmed there were no concerns after Dayle Grubb sustained a hip injury in the first-half against Truro.

Grubb had to be taken off and replaced by Marlon Jackson at half-time and Bartlett confirmed his captain should return to action on Tuesday against Chippenham Town at The Optima Stadium.

"Yeah, he's fine, he got a bit of an awkward one," he said.

"So, it's like a bang in the the hip really. So, a little bit sore. It's one of those you can't really run off and like we do with all of our players there's no risk with the squad.

"We've got other good players to come in and and play a part like Marlon did today. So, no huge issue there. It's just a bit of a sore one for him."
