Truro City manager Paul Wotton says he wanted make his side "believe in themselves" by "telling how good they were" during half-time of their National League South game at Weston-super-Mare AFC yesterday (Saturday).

The White Tigers were 1-0 down at the break, after James Dodd's 26th minute opener, before three goals in 12 second half minutes turned the game on its head.

Will Dean’s long range strike, Harvey Greenslade’s volley and Ryan Law tapped home on the rebound to put Truro firmly in control before Jacob Jagger-Cane's late consolation set up a nervy finish.

But City held on to secure a 3-2 victory at The Optima Stadium and Wotton said during the break they installed belief into the side on their way to a third win from their last four games.

"I don't think we deserved to be 1-0 down, I thought we had a couple of really good chances before they scored and the goal is our own doing. We've gifted them that," he said.

"Then at half-time we had to go in and just make the lads believe in themselves and telling how good they were and how well they were playing.

"The second-half they went out and showed that. It's an outrageously tough place to come. We've got a lot of history with them over the past two, three seasons.

"I don't think there's been more than one goal in the in the games over the last couple of years. Fortunately for us, we've come out on the right side of it today."

Weston's defeat was their first in eight games, after seven victories in all competitions and Wotton said the secret behind their success was going into their match without any fear.

"They're in good form, they have won seven on the spin, but we've been in good form as well. That's our third win out of four now," he added.

"It's about installing no fear, we respect people and we're tremendously humble, but you can't come here and show fear in football matches. You have to go and show how good you are.

"Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't and today, fortunately enough, it did."
