BREAN Golf Club seniors Captain-elect Tim Amy was the stand out performer in the Winter League round played on Saturday.

He was the only player in the field to beat his handicap and when he finished with a superb 43 points it gave him a sizeable winning margin of 7.

Three players all posted 36 and went into a countback to decide their finishing positions. Dave Mann was declared the best of the trio on the back nine with Jerry Brueford taking third and Nick Rich having to be content with 4th on the day.

Sunday's competition provided a much closer finish with the computer required to separate the leading scores. Two pairs scored nett 61's and after scrutiny of the back nines it was Leighton Jenkins and Kris Postlethwaite that secured the win.

They relegated the pairing of Club Captain Gordy Wheelaghan and Zak Jones into second spot with Dave Morgan and an in form Tim Amy winning another countback for third one stroke further back. Barry Roe and Ian Adams were the other 62 shooters and they ended 4th.

Earlier in the week, the top prize in January's Seniors Stableford headed in Mark Elvins direction last Tuesday. He scored 43 points on another bitterly cold morning to win by 4 from Barry Roe and Tony Oliver.

Roe was placed above Oliver after a back nine countback which secured him the second place prize.
