Weston-super-Mare AFC have extended the contracts of two key first team players to keep them at the club for the future.

Midfielder Jacob Jagger Cane and defender Jason Pope have both signed long-term contract extensions.

Manager Scott Bartlett said extending their contracts is big compliments to both players.

"Jason has been a consistent performer in a number of positions for us, both he and Jacob are brilliant to work with," he said.

“They set a good example day in day out and are very important members of our group.

“As we continue to improve it is important we keep a stable base and these two know the club inside out.”

Jagger Cane has played 347 games for Weston, scoring 19 goals and assisting 31.

He said: "I’m really happy to be extending my stay at Weston-super-Mare AFC.

“I love everyone here, the fans are different class, and to see how much the club has come on over the years both on and off the pitch is a credit to everyone involved, it’s only getting better and better!"

For Jason Pope, across his two spells with the Seagulls, Jason has played 275 games, scoring seven and assisting 26.

He said: "I’m delighted to have extended my contract with the club. Since I returned to the club it has gone from strength to strength.

“I have a great relationship with everyone involved with the club both on and off the pitch, so it’s a no brainer for me to extend my contract. I believe we can be successful in the NLS and I’m excited to play a part in it.”
