Counties 4 Tribute Somerset South: Hornets IV 33-19 Weston-s-Mare III
In what was a highly anticipated derby match in the Counties 4 Tribute Somerset South division, Hornets RFC Fourths defeated Weston-super-Mare Thirds.
It was an entertaining game of rugby, played under the lights on Friday, February 2, but the home side came out on top.
They claimed the derby bragging rights with a 33-19 victory over Weston.
The derby was as feisty as you would expect but both teams played quality rugby throughout and was a credit to the strength in both clubs.
The win takes the Hornets Fourths to second place in the league table and defeat for Weston leaves them in eighth.
A spokesperson from Hornets said: "A fantastic local derby, hard fought till the bitter end! Social rugby at it’s absolute finest."
The Hornets Firsts had a week off but elsewhere, the Seconds were victorious on the road away to Minehead Barbarians, winning a hard fought game 17-31.
And the Thirds kept fortress Nest secure with an impressive 76-5 win over Chard Rugby Club 2’s.
