Champions St Andrews completed a clean sweep of their group matches in the Somerset County League, beating Clarrie Dunbar by 39 shots on Saturday.

Phil Villis’s home rink, including 17-year-old Keegan Fairhurst, had an early six, were pegged back to a one-shot lead by the 14th end, then ran away with it. Barrie Forse’s home team were completely dominant, winning by 22.

Away, Richard Whittaker’s four did very well to win by ten, while Del James’s team, including league debutant Graham Wilcox, kept it tight to help ensure overall victory.

Saints finished top of Group A with a 100 per cent record and wait to find out who they will meet in the league semi-finals.

Sam Stocker of St Andrews made a winning debut for England in the under-25 indoor home internationals in Glasgow. He was drafted in for the final match against favourites Scotland and his rink were one-shot winners as England lost by three to the eventual champions.

He dedicated his first England appearance to his late grandfather Mike Stocker, who introduced him to bowls. His family were all present to cheer him on.
