Weston-super-Mare AFC has some new international fans who recently made the trip to support the club in person.

Dennis and Daan live in Holland and manage the Seagulls on the Football Manager game online.

The pair fell in love with the club through the game and wanted to support Weston in person so journeyed to North Somerset at the weekend for the match against Dover.

Ed Bliss, Director, Weston-super-Mare AFC, said: "This is just such a great story. The beauty of the tech world coming to life. We know we have supporters abroad but travelling to a game on the day by flight off the back of one of our players scoring a hattrick in one of their computer fixtures is just incredible."

Dennis Gerritsen and Daan Oldenmenger said: “We enjoyed every bit of the trip we have made, an unforgetable experience. The people were amazing and very welcoming to us, and so was the club, we did not expect this to happen at all!

"Thank you very much to the club, and of course Jordan Bastin, for the tickets. The whole trip and hospitality was something we will never forget, and makes us want come back even more! It is definitely not the last time we will come by to visit the club."

A spokesperson from the club said: "The two then bought merchandise from the club shop shortly after being presented with signed first team shirts.

"As a thank you for their absolutely fantastic efforts to attend a game, we’ve given them 2 season tickets for the 2024/25 season so they can return whenever they like!"
