National League 2 West: Dudley Kingswinford 35-40 Hornets

Hornets RFC first team recorded a crucial win away from home at the weekend in the National League Two West.

In the match away from home against Dudley Kingswinford, the Hornets won 35-40.

Two tries late on from Courtney Harris and Charlie Carter took Hornets to the lead and they held on for the win.

Earlier in the match tries came through Kieran Ward, Adam Francis, Ayden Chenoweth and Harris with Carter scoring five conversions throughout.

A spokesperson from the club said: "Another fine day for the Black and Amber army! The 1’s secured another win on the road, narrowly beating Dudley Kingswinford RFC 35-40 to extend their unbeaten run to 5 games."

Elsewhere, the Hornets Thirds won a hard fought battle against North Petherton RFC 39-22 in front of a huge home crowd, to secure the Tribute Counties 3 (Somerset South) league title with two games remaining.

The club said: "An incredible season for these guys which still isn’t over as they also have the Semi Final of The Somerset RFU Vase against Minehead Barbarians to look forward too."
