Three months ago, the Seniors at Wedmore GC were looking forward to playing their annual Turkey Trot, a fun three ball bowmaker with prizes aimed at getting players in the right mood for Christmas.

This week, just three months later, they actually got to play so at least some are going to be well set up for Easter. The weather, of course, has been the problem but this week stayed dry although the course remains damp in places.

Competition was fierce though and Nick Parker, David Crew and Quiton Thorne set a tough target of 88 points which no one else got near Closest rivals were John Russell, Trevor Marshall and Graham Hayes who took the runners-up spot with 84 points.

It was all very close after these top two. Stewart Bradley, Eddie Parlour and Jeff Griffiths took third place but only on countback from Chris Loughlin, Ian Hollands and Mike Garbutt after both scored 80 points.

The Ladies played a stableford on Thursday and the wind and rain returned with blustery showers making scoring difficult.

The lower handicappers in division 1 coped best with Beverley Broad recording the best score of the day, 33 points, to win by 3 points from Eunice Bond with Lyn Bird a couple more points back in third.

Karen Barnett scored 30 to win division 2 by a couple of points from Eileen Parnell with Heather Abraham taking third place. Marion Warren-Smith was the winner in division 3 on 28 with Joan Peck taking second place and Janet Cornish third.
