THE Gordie Phippen Trophy has now become the traditional Easter Saturday competition fare at Brean in recent years and this year’s staging went ahead as planned with blue skies above but with still some evidence of the recent wet weather below.

The winning team consisted of Kevin Davies and Simon Baunton alongside father and daughter duo of Steve and Millie Jones and they returned a superb nett score of 50.

Just a single stroke was the winning margin for them in the end with Pete Hackett, David Hunter, Adam Stringer and Craig Wheelaghan securing the runners up prizes. Third place went to Jon Scorrer, Nick Rich, Dave Mann and Les Byrne on 52.

Playing partners Tony Richards and Andrew Jones racked up the stableford points in Sunday's Super Series competition.

The duo each won their respective Divisions with Richards leading the way overall with a superb 44 points.

Jones wasn't far behind with 42 and both players scored 25 of their points by the time they had reached the turn with only a late stumble by Jones giving Richards the overall win.

The only other player to reach 40 points on the day before the handicaps change was Millie Jones and she scored 40 to end as runner up in Division Two.

Dave Morgan scored 37 points and collected the runners up prize in Division One albeit a distant 7 points behind the winner.
