Atwell Memorial Shield: Weston Town 1-0 Weston Crusaders FC
Weston Town FC have advanced to the semi-final of the Atwell Memorial Shield after their defeated local side Weston Crusaders FC.
The match ended 1-0, which was of course enough to see Weston Town through, however the Crusaders impressed against the higher league opposition.
There is in fact three divisions between the two sides as Weston Town currently are at the top end of Division One, while Crusaders play in Division Four.
The winning goal came in the 92nd minute when substitute Oli Coombes found himself in the right place at the right time as he stabbed home the only goal of the game.
The visitors were shown two red cards in the match but a spokesperson from Weston Town said: "The 8 yellows and 2 reds did not represent how the game went. Apart from the odd heavy challenge and cynical foul which happens in every game, this was a fairly mild-mannered match."
A spokesperson for Weston Crusaders said: "Despite being reduced to 10 men late on the second half and the game at 0-0 Crusader boys looked to be taking the game to a well deserved penalty shoot out, until a 92nd minute scramble in the box gave the hosts an unlikely injury time winner."
