Saturday saw the traditional opening of the green for the summer of 2024 with the President Will Harrison leading his team against the Captain’s team led by Dave Carpenter.

The green was in good condition despite all the rain and allowed for a good match.

This is an exciting year for Victoria after their promotion to the top league in Somerset, proving themselves to be Weston-super-Mare’s highest ranked club and only representatives at this level, a great accolade for the oldest club in Somerset.

The match itself was a little one sided with the Presidents team always in control and running out 120-98 winners.

Victoria welcomed two new bowlers for the game, Paul Sharp and Andrew Kimitri, and also the return Alan Bradley.

It was clear from this match that all three players will be great assets for the Vic.

The best winners for the Captains team was the triplet of Andrew Kimitri, Paul Coumis and Mike Cooper who won by nine shots and with Kimitri impressing many experienced eyes.

However, the biggest win of the day with a 21 point margin was the Pete Sloman skipped rink featuring Nigel Robbins, Keith Holland and Mike Milliner, who won 31-11.

With the summer fast approaching Victoria would like to welcome anybody interested to join the club and participate in this great pastime.
