Weston-super-Mare AFC loanee Raphael Araoye has returned to his father club Bristol City after his spell at The Optima in 2023/24.

The six foot three, 19-year-old is a talented defender and joined from City capable of playing centre back, full back, and wing back.

After joining The Seagulls in January of 2024 Araoye made his debut in a 1-0 loss at home to Bath City and went on to make 15 appearances for the club including in important wins over Taunton Town, Dover Athletic, and Chippenham Town.

He most recently played in Weston’s 2-1 loss to Aveley FC, but was recalled by City after the game.

The defender has been part of the set up in Bristol since the age of 10 and progressed up through the ranks until he signed his first professional contract in 2022 following good performances for their under-18 and under-21 sides.

Since then he has gone Bristol City’s pre-season tour of Australia and had been an unused sub for the first team four times this season before signing with The Seagulls on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
