WESTON Amateur Boxing Club is hosting the Western Counties Senior and Junior ABA Championships at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre on Saturday, April 4.Some top boxers from around the West Country will be competing for titles, Joe Hughes of Malmesbury has won national titles at schoolboy and junior level and now steps up to challenge for the national senior title, being earmarked to represent England in the 2012 Olympic Games, he is a hot favourite.Danny Bharj of Walcot, Swindon, having won national schoolboy and junior titles, will be competing at senior level and also will be hoping to get back into an England vest.There will be 15 titles contested at this event with clubs travelling from Jersey and Guernsey as well, who do not travel unless they feel they have some one good enough to challenge for a title.With Weston having seven members on the bill, it promises to be a busy and eventful evening. Representing Weston will be 11-year-old Wyvern schoolboy Bradley Warwick, 13-year-old Hornets rugby player Conor Littlewood, 14-year-old Broadoak schoolboy Josh Giddings, 15-year-old Locking lad Jay Barford, 16-year-old Bournville boy Gary Bodger, Oldmixon's 17-year-old Jake Giddings and Worle's 21-year-old Mitchell McSweeney.Boxing commences around 7pm and tickets are adults �10, Under-14s and OAPs �5 with concessions for families.
