KINGS of Wessex School recently added another Somerset Cup to this year’s collection when the Year 9 girls’ hockey team won the latest silverware in the final against Huish Episcopi Academy.
The girls had played Huish in an earlier round, drawing 1-1 so knew it was going to be a challenging match. The team gave a determined and indomitable performance and a late penalty corner was converted by Ashleigh Jones for the only goal of the game.
Delighted coach Sue Roberts said: “Congratulations to our girls for a wonderful performance. I have been impressed by their determination and teamwork in all our matches and practices this season. This is a very worthy win.”
