WORLE School student Ash Pierson has retained the South West Championship Under-17s indoor 60m title.

Ash managed to clinch the title having run a new personal best in the heats of 7.35 seconds. This despite an ankle injury which meant he was unable to compete in the 200m race.

It was a much needed confidence boost for Ash who spent most of last season plagued by a hamstring injury, which left him unable to compete for most of the outdoor season.

Ash now looks forward to trying to clinch the 100m South West outdoor championships in the Under-17s age group and hopefully again being selected to compete for Avon in the English Schools competition, before moving to Under-20s next year.

Ash would like to thank coach Chris Millard of North Somerset Athletics for all his hard work and mentoring and Yaskin Sports Ltd of Clevedon for their sponsorship.
