Weston Cricket Club are opening their doors for a Ashes-themed open day on August 10.

WITH cricket fever sweeping the nation again as England continue to take on Australia in the Investec Ashes series, Weston Cricket Club will Rise for the Ashes and throw open its doors to the public on August 10 as part of a nationwide campaign to boost cricket participation.

The club is inviting all local cricket fans to watch Sky Sports’ TV coverage of the Investec Ashes Series on August 10 as part of the England & Wales Cricket Board’s #RISE campaign, and is one of over 300 clubs nationwide holding club open days and showing the series live on Sky Sports.

Club vice-chairman Sam Curley, said: “As well as showing support for England, we’ll be inviting people to find out more about our club and enjoy our facilities. Whether they just want a drink or two, or perhaps they are interested in a more active role in our club, they will be made most welcome.”

The club, which plays in the West of England Premier League, runs five weekend teams as well as eight in the North Somerset Youth League and both ladies’ and girls’ teams.
