Ashurst ends the season with victory

WESTON Wheelers' top man Mark Ashurst finished the year how he started it, by winning. He produced a near 25-mph ride to claim victory, crossing the chequered flag in 24.13

WESTON Wheelers' top man Mark Ashurst finished the year how he started it, by winning.He produced a near 25-mph ride to claim victory, crossing the chequered flag in 24.13. Chris Gough (25.13) and Steve Chmiewliski (27.19) were the second and third placed Wheelers.Fastest man on the day was Tom Cox (24.01) with special credit to another visiting rider, Jon Wynn, who completed the Cross-East Brent 10-mile course on a children's Raleigh Chopper bike. He completed the event in 32.43.Other Weston finishers: C Ashurst 27:50; M Dell 27:58; A Jones 28:19. The event was organised by Rob Heathcote. The Wheelers hold their annual prize presentation at the Commodore Hotel, Kewstoke, next month.
