Banwell & Churchill Cricket Club held their annual dinner and presentation at the Rodney Stoke Inn.

It was well attended and after the meals were served, new chairman, Chris Masters thanked everyone for coming, along with Brad Carter for organising the event.

He also wished his appreciation to Mike Legg, Dave Eckett and Mike Caddick for their continued efforts on the committee the last season, alongside groundsman John Biggs, who greatly improved the playing facility once more.

Mike Caddick was stepping down as chairman to become 1st XI captain in place of Andy Brooks. He gave a special mention to Brad Carter who over the last three years as social secretary has raised approximately £10,000, but will not be able to continue this role.

Under-11 manager Joe Bryant took to the floor to report on his young side who played nine games without a win, but had a good group of youngsters.

This was followed by Under-15 manager Ric Brafield, who advised of the improvement of his side, and some players were looking to push into the senior sides.

Second XI captain Jon Fowle reported on their struggle early on, but they managed to get a side every week, finishing mid-table.

The bright points being youngsters Tom Poyner, James Caddick, Jimmer Plaister, George Brafield and Will Eyres and it was no surprise to hear the 2nd XI player of the year was given to Eyres, with Brafield picking up the young player of the year for a great season with bat and ball.

First XI captain Andy Brooks was last to the stage and gave a full rundown of the season, as his team finished in a respectable fourth after a shaky start.

Some memorable performances were remembered from Mike Caddick, Gareth Lloyd, Jakob Gale, Brad Carter, Dom Bush, Oli Masters and others, but the stage was stolen by 14-year-old James Caddick, who in his first season of senior cricket finished with outstanding 29 wickets at an average of 11.69, which was second best in the division. This duly meant he was awarded the 1st XI player of the year.
