Belvedere enjoy comprehensive victory

Belvedere enjoyed an emphatic victory at home to Butleigh.
BELVEDERE entertained Butleigh 2nd XI at Priory School and emerged emphatic winners by 160 runs.
The hosts were asked to bat first and openers Kevin Crockett and Mike Hosey scored freely, adding 55 in the first 11 overs before Hosey (20) was caught behind.
After a slow start, Crockett began to find his range and Neil Chadwick continued his fine form racing to 30 before being bowled. Sam Neate departed first ball, which brought skipper Sam McCrea.
Crockett soon passed his 50 as Butleigh`s bowlers suffered, but he was eventually dismissed for an excellent 80 (nine fours and two sixes) with the score on 181-4.

With 10 overs remaining, Pete Hooper joined McCrea and they added quick runs before McCrea was out for 55.
Late wickets fell in the search for runs, including Hooper for 26 as Belvedere finished on an imposing 247-9.

Butleigh began brightly before excellent field placement saw Gould well held by Seagle off the bowling of Paul Davis.
McCrea and Davis tested Butleigh’s batsmen with fine opening spells, which saw the visitors reduced to 47-4 with three wickets to Davis.
Butleigh rallied to 73-4, but then subsided to 87 all out with wickets falling to McCrea (8-1-25-1), Davis (11-2-38-3), Jack Neville (6-2-11-2) and Nil Chatterjee (2-0-5-2), with Neate holding three catches at mid-off.
Kevin Crockett was named Allstars Sports Bar man of the match to see his side to a maximum 35 points.
The seconds travelled to Wells and were comprehensively beaten by 209 runs.
The hosts put on 52 for the first wicket before Jennings made the breakthrough. Ham and Robinson took further wickets, but Henderson and Hodgkinson put on 97 before the latter was caught for 49.
Wells scored over 70 runs in the last eight overs, with Henderson finishing on 109 not out and the hosts on 293-9.
Platts and Ham opened the batting for Belvedere, but Platts fell in the first over. Ham was joined by Parker and they took the score to 39-1 before Parker fell for 13. Hodgkinson continued to rip through Belvedere innings and by the 15th over they were 64-5, losing Ham for a brisk 27. They lost their last five wickets for 20 runs, leaving them all out on 84. Other stand-out scores came from Robinson (17) and Cates (17).
Allstars man of the match went to Callum Ham.
