NORTH SOMERSET 1

WESTON entertained fierce rivals North Somerset looking to repress a series of disappointing results.

Making changes in the side, Weston captain Sam Neate moved to the back to play sweeper and played three up front with Hancock, Beer and Kearsey all looking dangerous.

Weston started brightly and were soon one up, Hancock getting around the back to slot home under the keeper. Weston continued to press, but North Somerset equalised with a penalty by Francuz.

Weston’s discipline was fantastic throughout the game and the midfield of Dave Beer, Dave Holland, Jake Turner and George Davis all had fine games against the experienced North midfield.

Kyle Sully found Neate from a short corner to put the home side in front. From here on it was all Weston and the full-backs of Ninnis, Hector and Duckett did not put a foot wrong.

Weston continued to dominate and constant pressure and a mixed range of great passes saw Roy Beer add two goals and Turner and Hancock a goal apiece. Kearsey was running rings around the North defence and had a hand in the majority of goals on the day.

After good play from Etchells, a shot cleared off the line by a North body saw another flick given to Weston and Hancock sent O’Neill the wrong way to make it seven.

Mercedes Benz man of the match was Matt Kearsey and Dench Fitness DOD was Chris Etchells.
