For the past 16 years, skittlers from all over England and Wales have been making their annual pilgrimage to Sand Bay Holiday Park for weekends of fun, playing their favourite sport.

Serious About Events who stage an annual series of around 20 major skittles tournaments, are brought more than 1,300 skittlers plus their supporters to Weston this year alone, over three weekends in April and May.

Competitors who took part in the 53 weekends staged there to date, will have thrown a grand total of more than 900,000 balls down the alleys.

Serious About Events co-managing director Rachel Hosking, said: “As we are nudging our millionth ball mark at Sand Bay next year, we will be planning some special celebrations and prizes to mark that milestone.”

“Sand Bay is the biggest venue in our programme. Over the years, we have brought more than 22,000 skittlers to the town. We host up to 44 teams on each of our weekends, who will have travelled from all over England and Wales.
