Bowls: Mixed fortunes for Victoria members

Victoria Saxons got their over-60s league campaign off to a losing start against local rivals Winscombe.
The game was played in good spirit but Victoria only managed four points, while the Vikings collected just two points against Mark Moor.
A trip to Penarth proved in vain due to bad weather and outdoor play was not possible, but a hastily arranged indoor game resulted in a win for the visitors.
Burnham-on-Sea were the visitors in a friendly contest that was played in the teeth of a gale and mastered the conditions better to claim victory.
Victoria Ladies continued their season with two friendly games with mixed success, beating Bristol's Page Park but losing at Bridgwater.
Both games were played in a friendly manner and very different weather – one in warm sunshine and the other in arctic conditions.
