Boxers pick up end of season trophies

Weston Boxing Club ends its season with their presentation evening.
WESTON Amateur Boxing Club brought its season to a close with its presentation evening at Weston St Johns Football Club.
Guest of honour was the town mayor and mayoress. A whole host of awards were presented to many of the club members in front of a full house.
First award went to Dean Marshall (11) of Ashcombe School for best prospect, followed by dedication to training awarded to Merlene George (16), who also received the Presidents Cup for her performance in the national junior female finals.
Bradley Warwick (14), grandson of the mayor and mayoress, retained the Ralph Stanton Memorial Tournament Trophy and the Royal Hotel best junior tournament boxer, as well as adding best schoolboy boxer to his tally.
Coach Keith Ambrose received the services to Weston Amateur Boxing Club plaque.
Jake Giddings (19) received a host of awards, the Best Boxing Display Cup, Tony Downes Best Senior Boxer Trophy, and the Skip Redman coaches best boxer plaque.
The best junior boxer went to Connor Littlewood (15) of Churchill, who has decided to return to rugby. The final award of the evening went to Sam Higgins (13) of Backwell School, for best boxer, voted by the club’s boxers.
