Team Jones took the Boom Boom Cup silverware at Brean Golf Club as golfers played in memory of Keith Porter.

Ladies champion Millie Jones was joined by brother Zak, cousin Isla and dad Steve as their team produced a stunning nett score of 48 to claim first place.

Steve Jones thanked the green staff and catering teams, while also making mention of Millie's putting, which was as hot as the glorious August weather.

A total of 22 teams gathered for the annual event with Keith's father Mike on hand to present prizes in the Country Club after play.

Countback was needed for second place as three teams scored 50, with Dave Mann, John Rabbetts, Gail and Steve Mason named as runners-up.

Bob Pelzer, Barry Roe, Tony McCann and Neil Barker took third place, with Andy Thomas and his Burnham & Berrow-based team of Tony Manlow, Martyn Cahill and Byron Lismore in fourth.

Rich Lambert had the standout round in Sunday's August medal with a superb nett 62, five clear of the field.

Lambert took Division Three honours by eight shots from captain elect Gordy Wheelaghan, with Chris Baker third on 71.

Steve Mason won Division Two on countback from club chairman Trevor Pitt after both scored 67, while Dan West won another countback to pip Kevin Davies to third after their 71s.

Club champion Dan Broom came out on top in Division One after yet another countback, pipping Barry Fellows after both signed for 68s, with Nathan Pickering third on 69.

*Wedmore's higher handicap ladies played for the James Jug, with Janet Robson beating Ruth Pearson on countback after both scored nett 72.

That ensured first and second in Division Three, with Esme Gulliver third on 74.

Aileen Robertson pipped Linda Roberts in Division Two after both scored 68, with Marion Warren-Smith (71) third.

And Ann Dixon won Division One with nett 69, three clear of Mandy Vearncombe, with Trish Phelps third on countback.

The club stableford produced more close finishes, apart from in Division Three where Andrew Page Dove scored 47 points to win by six from Richard Simmons, as Paul Stevenson (39) took third.

Geoff Fisher (39) won Division One by one from Marcello di Mascio, who edged John Russell on countback, while there was a blanket finish in Division Two as the first four all scored 38.

Steve Plant took first place ahead of Kevin Harris, Trevor Marshall and James Wells, while Karen Clark finished (39) finished as leading woman ahead of Betty Norman (37) and Janis Lawrence (36).
