THIRTEEN-year-old Luke Mason competed in the British Youth Championships held in Sheffield.
On the Saturday, he fenced in the boy’s Under-14 epee, winning all his pools he was seeded fifth. During the DEs he fought with his usual skill and determination gaining third place and attaining a bronze medal.
On the Sunday, he fenced foil, but was up against a lot of left handers, which are always tricky opponents. He took the fight to the number one seed and gave everything to make this a very exciting match.
Unfortunately, some of Luke’s hits did not register and he lost 11-15 and ended up 19th out of 73 competitors.
