Burnham schoolboy Joshua Jones won the Korda British Young Carpers’ Angling Championships held in Oxfordshire.
THE Korda British Young Carpers’ Angling Championships was won comprehensively by young Joshua Jones, winning by nearly 90lb, on Brasenose Two at Linear Fisheries, near Witney, Oxfordshire.
Fourteen-year-old Josh led the pack for most of the weekend, and had taken four more fish than his nearest competitor, Michael Bamber, who netted the biggest fish of the weekend at 30lb 6oz.
Josh’s lead was decisive and he went on to net a total of 17 fish, seven more than the second-placed angler.
Joshua, who attends King Alfred School in Burnham, took the traditional plunge into the water, along with a number of the marshals.
