TWO brothers from Cheddar have been busy in judo ranking events around the country.
Ben and Toby Attwood were both in action at the second national ranking event of the season, held in Cardiff, the Welsh Open.
Ben faced the same group of juniors as in the Heart of England the previous week, only this time he went one better making the final and beating last weekend’s winner in the semi-final. Unable to repeat his superb performance in the earlier rounds, Ben took a fantastic silver medal.
Younger brother Toby, cruised through the early rounds making the final for the second week running. In the final, Toby faced a tricky opponent, that took him the whole distance, but Toby came out victorious, winning gold and making him Welsh Open judo champion to add to last week’s silver medal at the Heart of England event.
Both boys have had a great start to the ranking events this year and will be looking to take their good fortune into the nationals later in October.
Ben and Toby both go to Kings of Wessex Academy, Cheddar, and train at Bradley Stoke Judo Club, Gloucester, two to three times a week and once at Bath Unversity.
If anyone if interested in sponsoring the boys, they are both fighting nationally and internationally and would appreciate any local support. Please contact 01934 741648 for further information.
