Avenue Tennis Club enjoyed a busy weekend of tennis.

HEAD coach Vinny Duddy had a busy weekend of tournaments at the Avenue Tennis Club.

The FA Cup social tennis tournament was won by Colin Christison and Jane Sanders, who managed to beat five other pairs to the number one spot. Vinny thanked Julie Cameron, Pooh Jenkins and Lynn O’Dell for the food.

Sunday saw six juniors competing in the BW Controls Ltd Mini Red competition, five were from the club’s own Mini Red Academy. Megan Rundle once again ran out winner of the competition with some powerful serving and fantastic forehand winners.

Vinny thanked Jessica Griffiths for her help in running the competition and Kevin Burrow for helping with the refereeing.

In the afternoon, the club ran its first Mini Orange tournament with five players, including Megan Rundle. The competition was won by Harry Burrow, who played some great tennis and served very well.

Playing in their first ever Orange tournaments were Mason Parker, Abigail Peake and Jake Cadwallader.

The next tournament at the club is on May 21 when the Jo Gooden commemorative ladies doubles tournament will start at 10am and finish off with a lunch, all ladies are invited to attend and play.

The club will also be holding its AGM on Sunday from 11 and would like to remind members that their support at the meeting would be appreciated.

A school holiday junior tennis camp will be run from May 31 until June 3 from 9am-4pm, bookings can be made daily or for the whole week – forms are available from the club’s website – www.avenuetennis.com
