There were calm conditions for an open match at Shiplate Farm Fisheries.

EASTER Monday’s open match was held on the Main Lake at Shiplate Farm Fisheries in calm conditions with the bonus of warm spring sunshine, making the 17 anglers more comfortable than those who had been in the match the day before.

Tim Lewis drew peg 15 and used micro feed and 8mm pellet to storm ahead of the match and take first place with 90lb.

Results: Tim Lewis (Shiplate) peg 15, 90lbs; Gordon Jones (Shiplate) peg 1, 45lb 11oz; Russ Peck (Thatchers) peg 12, 32lb 1oz.

Silvers went to Julian Pinkett (Bristol PO) peg 14, 12lb 1oz and Steve Howell (Shiplate) peg 3a, 6lb 13oz.

A MATCH on the Main Lake saw some larger carp being caught all around the lake.

Turbulent weather over the previous 36 hours made the fish pickier feeders, but when the carp did feed they were mainly good doubles.

Tich Williams drew peg 15 and fished the tip to lawn using 10mm boilies with small PVA bags mixed with pellet and ground bait to lure in some good carp, giving his winning bag a total weight of 63lb 2oz

Results: Tich Williams (Thyers) p15, 63lb 2oz; Steve Howell (Shiplate) p7, 46lb 14oz; John Dursley (Enterprise Angling) p4, 37lb. Silvers went to James Gunter (Clevedon) p11, 9lb 12oz.
