Uphill Castle maintained their unbeaten home record with an excellent home win over league leaders Street.

UPHILL Castle entertained unbeaten league leaders Street hoping to maintain their 100 per cent home record.

Street got off to a solid start thanks to Bartlett (43) and Trotman (19), despite the genuine pace of Simon Webster The breakthrough came with the introduction of Mike Hudson (2-56) who had Trotman caught by Luke Bliss at mid-wicket.

The introduction of the impressive 16-year-old Kieran Ward before drinks had an impact as he removed Bartlett Andrew Veal (57) and James Bisgrove (57 not out) put on a significant stand to see Street pass 200.

In-between Luke Bliss bowled a tight spell, backed up by Sam Brewer and George Cox. Hudson returned to claim his second wicket, but some late hitting saw Street amass 262-4 from their 50 overs.

Castle’s start got off to a disastrous start as they found themselves 9-3 from just seven overs. Bliss (73) and Tom Oultram (45) put on 155 for the fourth wicket. The Uphill late order batted fantastically, led by Alex Winn.

With support from Ward and Hudson, Castle still 30 required from four overs and only one wicket remaining. Webster supported Winn excellently and then hit a four in the final over to spark big celebrations.

Big performances came from Ward, Hudson, Oultram and Alex Winn, but Bliss took the Beachlands man of the match award for another fine all-round performance.
