CHEDDAR Tennis Club's junior girls and boys are celebrating success after winning their respective Somerset county mini tennis orange finals. Having won through their qualifying tournament against several other local clubs at Millfield School in February, Ellie Henry and Amy Rossiter, both aged nine, Hal Davidson, aged 10, and Kieran Davies, aged eight, went on to success in the event at Taunton.All four competitors played both singles and doubles matches against the three other clubs from around the county which had won through to the finals and the Cheddar juniors were presented with winners medals and certificates.The club's head coach, Dean Cornish, said: "They all played really well and are a credit to the club. It shows how the coaching programme is benefitting the youngsters at Cheddar."All four have mini tennis orange coaching, the second stage in the Lawn Tennis Association's popular mini tennis coaching programme, at the club.The Cheddar club has more than 120 junior members and together with non-members they are invited to take part in Easter holiday tennis coaching camps at the club's Sharpham Road premises on April 4 and 5.Mini red sessions for four to seven-year-olds take place from 11am to 12.30pm each day, costing £12 for members, and £15 for non-members for the course.Mini orange-green sessions for seven to 10-year-olds take place from 1 to 3pm each day, costing £16 for members, and £20 for non-members for the course.Full court tennis sessions for 10-12 and 13-16-year-olds take place from 3 to 6pm each day, costing £24 for members, and £30 for non-members for the course.Application forms for the coaching are available from Dean Cornish, telephone 01934 750402.
