An even first half saw a display of commitment and adventure with the league's form team of the moment, Hengrove, playing to a system that allowed Clevedon to play with their usual attacking style.

The first half ended goalless despite chances for James Springett and returning top scorer Sam Clark to put the home side ahead when he only had the keeper Simon Crawford to beat.

The second half began with United pushing forward but the excellent Crawford kept his side in the game with a couple of classy saves from Clark and United skipper Ryan King.

After 69 minutes United were made to pay for the missed chances when a Hengrove attack down the right was halted by a needless free kick out by the touchline. The subsequent cross found the head of centre forward Joe Parsons who put his side ahead.

The visitors weathered plenty of United pressure and got their second on 84 minutes when Ben Crew put pressure on United's keeper Dancey in the corner, winning a loose ball and skilfully curling the ball into the empty Clevedon net.

United take on local rivals Portishead Town at the Hand Stadium on April 26. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
