VICTORIA held the indoor finals of the Triples Knockout and Mixed Pairs.

The Triples saw Bravo, skipped by M Stocker, beat Echo, skipped by L Baldwin, 26-12. Despite the scoreline it was a good and closely fought game with the score after seven ends just favouring Bravo 9-7.

However by the 13th end, Bravo had increased their lead by 10 shots. On the 14th end, Echo were holding five shots but M Stocker, with his last wood, fired and took the end by one shot. Echo came back on the next end and were holding four shots and again M Stocker, with a little skill and lots of good fortune, killed the end. The result could have been so different if Echo had a slice more fortune on those two ends.

Result - Team Bravo: T Gatehouse, M Fletcher M Stocker 26; Team Echo: R Lacey, B White, L Baldwin 12.

The Mixed Pairs took place on Saturday morning between husband and wife team Mrs S Newman and J Newman and Mrs A Holland and M Campbell.

The early start clearly caught Holland-Campbell still half asleep as the Newmans went into an 11-0 lead after just five ends. By halfway the Holland-Campbell pair had started to play and picked up shots to improve the scoreline to 16-7.

The second half saw a charge by Holland-Campbell which just failed as the Newmans ran out victors by 20-17. It was an excellent win by the Newmans who benefited from the extra practice and the use of the shorts jack throughout the game.

The opening of the outdoor green takes place on Saturday at the annual President's Day.
