After winning by 13 runs against Bristol West Indian Phoenix in their season opener, Congresbury made it two wins in a row with a thumping 108-run victory over Timsbury at the King George V Playing Field.

Having won the toss in their first home match of the season, captain Justin Yau elected to bat.

Yau and opening partner Neal Frost put on a 43-run parternship before Frost was trapped lbw by Neil Hucker.

And from the very next ball Lloyd Richardson was caught by Kevin Sibley, leaving the hosts on 55-2.

Michael Edmunds joined Yau and the pair would go on to add 93 runs, as Yau made 68 himself including seven fours and two sixes, before being caught out by Hucker off a Stephen Clothier delivery.

Edmunds was next to go as he fell two runs short of his half century as he was run out.

Jack Kearns (26) and Jack Richardson (31 not out) helped build up the runs as the hosts finished their 50 overs on 256-8.

Congresbury started well in the field with an early wicket from Martin Ford as he caught and bowled Adam Brinkworth.

Mark Sage and Garry Pearcy formed a steady partnership as Timsbury tried to chase down the score set by the hosts.

However, a slow ball from Jack Richardson bowled Sage for 29 and the introduction of Edmunds helped turn the game in his side's favour.

After removing Pearcy, he bowled five maidens in a row to end on fantatsic figures of 2-10 off 10 overs.

Jack Williams (35) and Jessie Bishop (25) looked to get the visitors in with a shout of catching the home's side score.

But it wasn't to be as the visitors lost their last six wickets for 50 runs to end on 148 all out, 108 runs short.

A cracking all-round bowling effort saw Sam Evans and Jack Richardson pick up three wickets each with Edmunds and Ford each getting two as Congresbury's unbeaten start continues.

Kismet's man of the match was awarded to Edmunds for his bowling and 48 runs.

Congresbury's second team also recorded a victory, maintaining their own strong start to the season with a six-wicket success over Bristol Lions.

The 14-year old Ben Cherson performed wonders again as he picked up four wickets, with the visitors dismissing the Lions for 127.

Ian Perry scored 78 not out along with Stuart Castle's 32 not out to earn Congresbury victory on the road.
