Congresbury were held to a draw against near neighbours Wrington Redhill.

CONGRESBURY produced a good performance to earn a well-deserved draw against a strong Wrington side.

The visitors took a deserved lead when a long ball deceived a defender as the ball sailed over his head it found an on rushing striker and he gave keeper Danny Bullock no chance with a well-placed shot.

Congresbury increased the tempo of the game and Brian Wrigley smashed an effort just over the bar from the edge of the area. Congresbury equalised from a corner by Gardener was headed home by Sam Clements.

Just before half-time, Wrington regained the lead with a soft goal following a corner.

Congresbury started the second half the brighter of the two sides and created chances for strikers Ross Stockhall and Tony Tuckfield, but they found the Wrington keeper in good form as he saved their efforts.

Wrington were playing counter-attack football and defenders Alex Read, Wrigley, Sam Clements and Dan Pepworth had to concentrate to keep them out. With time running out, Ollie Clements played a delightful through ball to Tuckfield and he made no mistake with a well-placed shot to make the final score 2-2.

CONGRESBURY dominated this game from start to finish, running out 3-0 winners.

They took the lead after a good move involving Tony Tuckfield and Ross Stockhall ended with Ben Marsh scoring.

With midfielders Marsh, Ollie Clements, Miles Bishop and Seb Williams all working hard, Congresbury doubled their lead when Stockhall scored after good work by Tuckfield.

After the break, Ash Brown was brought down in the penalty area and keeper Danny Bullock slotted home the spot kick to make it 3-0.

Demetris Antounas created chances for Tuckfield and Brown, but there was no further scoring and the game finished 3-0.

WRINGTON Redhill made their sixth consecutive away trip of the season with a visit to Westfield.

A high-tempo first-half saw Wrington score twice through Cheeseman and the home side had a goal disallowed for offside.

The second half saw Wrington play down the slope and Joe Berry soon scored the third goal. Craig Burchill beat four defenders to score the fourth and the fifth goal was netted by Berry after a good through ball by Neil Andow.
