Congresbury CC captain Justin Yau says 'they are not going to get ahead of themselves' after their explosive start for the season.

Yau's side currently lead the West of England Premier League Bristol & North Somerset table with 83 points, after four wins from four and look to 'keep the streak going' at Bath seconds this Saturday.

Bath are currently in ninth place, after one win and three losses, with 36 points.

Yau confirmed Congresbury will be without Toby Lawrence, Richie Bann and Doug Storey and will go into the encounter wary of Bath, despite their start to the campaign.

“We know Bath haven’t started like they would've wanted but they are a great club with strength throughout their playing roster,” he said.

“We lose Toby, Richie and Doug to holidays but have Jack Kearns and Tom Field back which will make a big difference.

“It's always one of the first games as an amateur cricketer you pen in the diary as it’s always a pleasure to play there. We will keep focusing one ball at a time and hopefully if we can continue to hit our straps, keep the streak going.

“We need to keep going, one game at a time. We aren’t going to get ahead of ourselves, there's a long way to go and we will see where we get to by August then we can re-evaluate our goals.”

Congresbury recorded a seven-wicket victory over Keynsham last weekend and Yau hailed his side’s display in a 'really good win' against a 'top side'.

And he hailed Tabish Khan and Matt Thomson’s performances in their win at the King George V Playing Field.

Khan picked up three wickets for 12 runs in 8.2 overs while Thompson scored his maiden century with 105, including 13 fours, from 138 balls to steer Congresbury home.

“It was a really good win, Keynsham are a top side and they will win a lot of games this year,” added Yau.

“Tabish bowled an exceptional spell which opened the game up for us, removing (Raj) Biswa and (Ben) Ackland early on. He bowled with such control and accuracy and made it difficult for the batters early on.

“Both him and his brother (Adeel) are proving to be great signings and they will continue to play a huge part this season.

“It was absolutely great to see Matt score his maiden 100. I am sure it will be the first of many moving forward. He batted with composure throughout and marshalled us all the way to the end.

“He was also exceptional with the gloves and is showing his supreme quality for the club.”
