IN the quarter-finals of the Wrington Vale Mendip Acorns, the first two frames in the match between Clevedon Conservatives B and Cleeve Corners were tight.

Dave Crees took the final three colours of the first frame to pinch it off Reuben Hurse by 13 points, but Reuben got his revenge in the next with a six-point win. The Conservatives' Simon Cambridge had too much in his locker against Mike Gould and won both frames by 33 and 49 points. Mark Litson and Ron Purcell played out a tight initial frame with Mark winning by 10 points which put the home side 99 points up which was more than enough to secure the match and set up a semi against The Young Ones.

The match between Peelers and Backwell Lucky 13 started off with Brian Lewis beating Peelers George Rowe by 16. It was all plain sailing after that for the Peelers team who won all the remaining frames to go through to meet Rovers in the semi-final.

Breaks: Simon Cambridge 33; Lee Kerslake 22, 22; Andy Jones 21; Reuben Hurse 20.
