BELVEDERE entertained newly promoted Watchet and gave a poor performance, falling to a six wicket defeat as the visitors reached their target with 11 overs remaining.Belvedere batted first and lost Neil Chadwick in the second over and skipper Dave Holland with the score on 49. Nick Owens was struggling to score, before Aaron Mott began to increase the tempo.Owens fell in the 31st over for a painstaking 38 and Mott fell soon after when looking well set on 44.Ian Tasker rolled back the years with a brief innings of 46 to edge the score towards 200 before Haydn Thomas with 18 added valuable late runs. Belvedere closed on 201-8, at least 40 short of a competitive total.Belvedere needed to make an early breakthrough and did so in the third over when Matt Huxtable trapped Sully leg before. However, Bishop launched a savage assault on the bowlers, racing to 44 before he was pinned in front by Andy Loud. This loss did not deter Watchet as they batted aggressively and not with some luck typified by skipper Strong. Belvedere used eight bowlers as they tried unsuccessfully to stem the flow and take wickets.Only two further wickets were taken by Thomas and Holland respectively as Watched eased home with plenty of overs to spare.Tasker Printers man of the match was awarded to Ian Tasker.
