Belvedere lost their latest Somerset League Division 2 fixture against Castle Cary by 76 runs.

BELVEDERE travelled to Castle Cary for their latest Somerset League Division 2 fixture and asked the hosts to bat.

Opening bowlers Sam Mccrea and Bradley Latchfield started impressively as the home side crawled along at a run an over in the first 10. The deadlock was broken with the score on 66 when CJ Neate removed Bontoft.

At 104-1, Cary were set for a good score until Eurocams man of the match Neil Chadwick changed the course of the innings with a four-wicket spell. In an excellent bowling and fielding display, where all seven chances were held, the home side ended on 170-9.

Chadwick (4-32) was the most successful bowler, well supported by Mccrea (2-30), Latchfield (2-38) and Neate (1-27).

Belvedere lost Mccrea in the first over without scoring and matched their hosts’ slow start, crawling to 29-3 off the first 20, losing Chadwick and Sam Neate along the way.

Wickets fell regularly thereafter around skipper Kevin Crockett (34), with no-one else reaching double figures as the innings subsided to 94 all out after 42 overs.
