BANWELL and Churchill 2nds made it two league wins out of two with this eight-wicket victory at Wedmore. On winning the toss, they asked their hosts to bat and were able to restrict them to 189-6 on a good batting track. This reflected a fine fielding performance by a youthful Banwell and Churchill side with eight players under the age of 18.Four excellent catches were taken by George Johns, Seb Williams, Matt Bebber, who also had a good game behind the stumps, and Dan Borrett who again starred in the field. Dom Williams with 4-24 in nine overs and Jamie Biddle with 1-28 in 12, were the pick of the bowlers. Justin Seale took 1-61 in 10 overs, while veterans Simon Shapland and Mike Legg finished wicketless and expensive. In reply, Banwell and Churchill lost two early wickets in scoring 40 runs, but then an unbroken 150-run partnership between Mike Legg (53 not out) and Jamie Biddle (98 not out) saw them pass their hosts' total with more than five overs to spare. Jamie Biddle played shots all round the wicket and was the key man in guiding Banwell and Churchill to this unexpected win which earned them 31 league points.
