Uphill Castle comfortably defeated Butleigh to move back into the promotion places.

Uphill Castle moved back into the promotion places with a comfortable 84-run victory over Butleigh.

Uphill won the toss and elected to bat first and despite losing Steve Philips early, Hone Milnes-Win (29) and Autosmart man of the match Joe Gadd looked comfortable until Hone was run out.

This brought Tom Llewellyn to the crease and with Gadd started to play some beautiful shots. With the score on 122-2 after 30 overs, Uphill were in a strong position and so it proved and when Gadd went for 107, his first century for the club and Tom Llewellyn (74 not out), as Uphill closed on 234-5.

Uphill’s bowler’s wanted to keep their good form going and both Kieran Ward (2-24) and George Cox, who bowled tremendously, got Uphill off to the perfect start and Butleigh never recovered.

Marcus Bail (2-28) and George Chapman (3-40) were introduced and despite some late shots from the tail, Cox came back on to claim the last wicket to finish with impressive figures of 8-5-3-6 and Butleigh were dismissed for 150, with Uphill claiming maximum points.

On Saturday, Uphill are away to league leaders Frome in what is an important game.
