Uphill Castle travelled to league leaders Bedminster and were well beaten.

UPHILL Castle travelled to table-topping Bedminster looking to build on last week’s victory.

Losing the toss, Castle were put in to bat. After a couple of assertive boundaries, Seb Winn fell lbw to Carter, followed by Belcher and Moseling. At 16-3 after 12 overs, Lambert and Davidson began rebuilding the innings.

The pair put on 41 in nine overs before Davidson fell for 16. This spurred on Lambert, who hit a huge six down the ground followed by two pulls for four. However, a mis-timed shot brought the end to his innings for 44. Watts hit a quick 16, but Castle crumbled to 112 all out.

Uphill got off to a poor start with Elphick (72 not out) finding the boundary regularly in the first 10 overs. Cox almost removed Tryfonos, but Moseling failed to cling on to a fantastic diving effort. From here on in, it was all about Bedminster with Castle giving a lacklustre display in the field.

Davidson removed Tryfonos lbw, but it was little consolation. Elphick and Khanapurkar raced through to victory in the 23rd over. Gary Kennedy bowled with great control, but was not supported by the other bowlers who bowled inconsistently.

On Saturday, Castle entertain Old Bristolians in a bottom of the table clash, knowing that a win is vital in their attempts to move up the table.
