Winscombe 2nd XI started the new season with a comfortable victory over Wembdon.
HAVING just missed out on promotion last season by just one point, Winscombe 2nd XI wanted to start this year with victory.
Winscombe asked their guests Wembdon to bat first and opening Bawden ran out a batsman first ball. Bawden and Reeves contained the visitors, restricting them to only 15 runs off 12 overs, with Bawden also taking three wickets.
Mayne was brought into the attack and was soon taking wickets. His four-wicket haul helped to bowl out Wembdon for 68.
In reply, Winscombe lost Durans-Paul for only six. However, this brought Perry to the crease who began to make steady progress. Lunn was next to fall, but this brought Bailey to the crease.
Perry and Bailey saw the home side to a dominating victory in just 19 overs, Perry and Bailey finishing not out on 20 and 23 respectively and Winscombe collecting a maximum 35 points.
