A victory for Weston in their final game will ensure they stay clear of relegation.

WESTON’S relegation battle took another twist at home to Bath. After an excellent month, old habits crept back in and a lacklustre performance saw them come away with just three points.

After being put in to bat, Weston saw off the first 10 overs comfortably reaching 43 before Jalal Ahmed missed out on another start. John Williams followed soon after as he was caught playing over the top.

Gary Morgan and Andy Fear fell in quick succession to reduce Weston to 63-4, but a Sam Trego counter attack and Shabel Ahmed took the score just short of three figures. But on 30, Ahmed ran himself out and as the Davidson brothers came and went, Trego was left stranded. Some lusty blows from him helped Weston to 133 all out as he hit 49 valuable runs.

Charl Willoughby started well for Weston and with the batsman looking to finish the job quickly, John Davidson came up to the stumps.

Willoughby continued to trouble the batsman with Davidson faultless behind the stumps, but with no one offering any support at the other end, it was difficult to build any sustained pressure.

Chris Davidson came on and bowled Robin Lett (54) with his second ball and he was able to keep it tight for several overs. John Davidson and Willoughby eventually got their man as Jenkins was given stumped for 33, but by now the game was far beyond Weston.

Davidson managed to remove Mount and Hankins quickly to ensure another valuable bonus point, but Tim Rouse (26 not out) steered Bath home.

This was another poor batting performance from Weston and as a result they head into the final game of the season just nine points clear of Taunton St Andrews. A win will secure safety for Weston. However, a loss would mean a tense wait to hear the outcome of Taunton result.

Intouch CRM man of the match was shared between Sam Trego and John Davidson.
