WINSCOMBE travelled to Clevedon in their final away match of the season. Clevedon, batting first, got off to a good start with Hancock and Cunliffe putting on 91 for the first wicket before 15-year-old Paul Marquis on his 1st XI debut had Hancock caught at point.Iain Fraser (2-38), who bowled another miserly spell, then took two quick wickets and with Neil Pollard grabbing another, Clevedon were reduced to 120-4.However Cunliffe took control of the rest of the innings as he dominated the majority of the scoring while receiving good support from Sygbet and then Loveder. Cunliffe was eventually bowled for a superb 122 by Neil Pollard who claimed some more late wickets as he finished with figures of 5-58 in an excellent spell as Clevedon finished their innnings on 251-8.In reply, Winscombe got off to a bad start with Brad Loveluck having to retire hurt with a knee injury and Rob Shephard was looking good before he was run out for 15.This brought Iain Fraser and Alan Hunt together and for the next 20 overs, these two dominated the bowling as they put on 121 for the second wicket before Hunt was caught and bowled for 73. Dave Bailey soon followed for four which saw Matt Lunn join Fraser and they batted sensibly, keeping the scoreboard going as they added 64 for the fourth wicket before Lunn was leg before for 21.Fraser saw Winscombe home, aided by Steve Bawden (6 not out) as they passed Clevedon's total for the loss of four wickets. Fraser finished on 90 not out and together with his miserly bowling spell was Ringway man of the match.
