Lympsham lifted the Weston Proper Job Midweek League Stephenson Cup after beating Cheddar in the final.
LYMPSHAM are the Weston Proper Job Midweek League Stephenson Cup winners, defeating Cheddar in the final.
Against Cheddar in the semi-final, the Presidents did well to contain the majority of the batsmen. Unfortunately, the exception was Scott Harris, who reached his century in the last over, finishing on 102 not out in a total of 166-5.
The Presidents hopes were soon dashed as their main batsmen perished cheaply and despite a few lusty blows from their tail-enders, they finished well beaten.
The other semi saw Lympsham Airways bat first against Windsor Castle. On an unpredictable wicket, which had been badly affected by Saturday’s storms, the Airways struggled against Ash Allen (4-18) and Simon Biddle (3-16) and could only muster 76-9.
The reply was completely destroyed by Jack Luff, who returned the incredible figures of six wickets for just one run, including a triple wicket maiden, ensuring the Windsor were dismissed for just 39.
In the final, both of the two main men in the semi-finals featured strongly, with Harris scoring 44 not out to pick up the batsman of the match award, in Cheddar’s total of 110-5 and Jack Luff bowling four overs for just six runs.
Liam Morris was awarded the bowler of the match accolade by taking 3-20.
The Airways reply was nicely timed as they claimed victory in the 19th over, with man of the match Dave Luff top scoring with 45 not out, supported by Jamie Howson (24) and Hayden Tuttiett (20).
